Preparing for the studio tour

This is my gear for plein air painting. I like this French easel with special straps to carry around. It is a bit heavy but one can get used to it.

Here are some canvases that are work in progress and small 12X12" canvases primed and ready for more daily adventures.

New big painting awaiting!!!

My palette knives - if you don't clean them right away you have a problem on your hands later! That is why i keep a bunch of baby wipes around the studio as well!

LUKAS thick acrylics and Golden paints are my favorite for impasto painting with palette knives.

I still have 6 weeks before the studio tour but these will be very busy 6 weeks. so i took a bit of time to clean up the studio. Here is a sneak preview of it

Sunflowers

I painted this sunflower painting a while back - just forgot to post it on my blog. It is more toned down than my regular brightly colored paintings. I felt calm and relaxed when I painted it. Of course I could not get away from the thick texture and metallic paint!!! This painting is SOLD.

I have been working hard on my dissertation. The D-day is approaching fast and i cannot wait to be done! Lots of hard work, sleepless nights. But also a lot of satisfaction from doing science. I realize that I cannot live without it, or without art. So i will have to continue doing both :). More on that later.

Partners

I wear a lot of hats these days - mother, cook, cleaning lady, scientist, artist, gardener, and a wife. I just wanted to say that I would not be able to do all that without tremendous support and love of my partner He has been my best friend who supported all of my "kookie projects" and stood by me all this time. My hubby rocks!

"Sunflowers" thick texture palette knife painting

This is 12"X12" small daily painting of a sunflower - heavily textured with metallic paint accents. I always have a hard time photographing my paintings with metallic paint.I am back in Colorado for a while - it is nice to be in a slightly cooler weather for a change! Although I already miss our friends and NM in general. It is truly a land of enchantment (or if you prefer - entrapment!)
